Israel’s Health Ministry on Friday advised susceptible individuals to avoid prolonged outdoor exposure over the weekend due to a forecast of high-to-very-high air pollution levels.
These vulnerable groups include the elderly, pregnant women, children and people with chronic illnesses, particularly those with heart and respiratory conditions. The ministry also recommended that the general public limit strenuous outdoor physical activity as much as possible.

According to the Israel Meteorological Service, the haze, which intensified overnight into Friday, is expected to worsen further tonight and peak on Saturday. Over the next two days, visibility across the country is likely to decrease.

The Meteorological Service added that the dust cloud, originating in the deserts of Libya and Egypt, is currently over the eastern Mediterranean and affecting countries across the region, including Cyprus, Turkey, Lebanon and Syria. It estimates that the haze will begin to subside on Sunday and Monday, with visibility gradually improving.
Rain is expected to return on Tuesday, with precipitation forecast in many areas of southern Israel. Flooding is also possible in the Dead Sea basin and in streams across the Negev and Arava regions.
