The leader of the Iranian Kurds from the Khebat (Struggle) organization, Babasheikh Husseini, said there is a high probability that the Kurds based in Iraqi Kurdistan will cross the border and launch a ground operation against the forces of the ayatollah regime in Iran.
Al-Jazeera TV channel reports this.
« We have been planning this for a long time, and now that conditions have become more favorable, there is a high probability that we will begin to act. We have not yet made a final decision, but it is very likely that we will begin a ground operation, » Husseini said.
He noted that the American side was in contact with them through various channels, but direct meetings have not yet been held.
It is worth noting that the main factor causing doubts among Iranian Kurds is the unpredictability of Donald Trump, who recently abandoned his closest allies in Syria – the predominantly Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces, which participated with the United States in the fight against the Islamic State. The Hebat organization fears that they may encounter a similar situation and is seeking security guarantees from Washington.
Earlier, Kursor wrote that Kurdish armed groups located along the Iraqi-Iranian border are considering the possibility of conducting a ground operation against Iran. According to Kurdish sources, units located inside Iran transmit intelligence information about the border areas to the United States and Israel.
In addition, Kursor has already reported that fighters from several Iranian Kurdish groups are preparing for a potential ground operation against the regime in northwestern Iran. According to American sources, these formations can seize certain territories within the country and provoke internal protests.
