.NETWORKIsrael Chronicle - IsraelIndia shocked: pilot decided to commit suicide and killed hundreds of passengers

The preliminary findings of the investigation into the June 2025 Air India crash have sent shockwaves through India. Media reported that the captain deliberately cut off the fuel supply. As a result, 260 people died.

Indian media refer to the publication of the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera. The publication claims that the commission’s final report almost certainly indicates deliberate actions by the crew commander. The document has not yet been officially published. However, sources claim that the pilot decided to commit suicide and “took hundreds of people with him.”

The Air India plane was flying from Ahmedabad to the UK. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner crashed a few seconds after takeoff. 260 people died. These included passengers, crew members and people on the ground. The plane crashed into the medical student dormitories. Only one passenger survived.

The preliminary report of the Indian Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau was published in July 2025. Investigators determined that immediately after takeoff, the fuel switches were switched from « on » mode to « off » mode. In the recordings of the conversation, the co-pilot can be heard asking the captain why he turned off the fuel. The answer is that he didn’t do it. Previously, authorities had not placed direct blame on the crew.

According to the Italian publication, the investigation believes that the commander manually turned off the fuel supply to the engines. This action led to a loss of thrust and the plane crashing. Both pilots were killed.

It is reported that about a month after the disaster, information appeared about the captain’s depression. His father rejected these claims. He demanded a new investigation and denied rumors about his son’s personal problems. He denied reports of divorce and psychological difficulties.

The investigation continues. The final report is expected to recommend regular psychological testing of pilots and ongoing monitoring of their condition. Previously, experts considered different versions, including a technical malfunction and crew error. Analysis of the black box data ruled out mechanical failure and indicated manual switching of the systems. The final report has not yet been made public.
