Ex-Haaretz columnist Alon Pinkas received hundreds of thousands of dollars for services he provided to Qatar lobbyist Jay Footlik

Pinkas was paid from January 2024 through March 2025, while he was employed at Haaretz, funneled to him via businessman Gil Birger. According to Pinkas, the money was compensation for writing policy papers; he denies any familiarity with, or involvement in, the pro-Qatar campaign formulated by Footlik. However, several of his articles include messages that align with the campaign’s talking points
