Former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton will be cheering for his former team at Bank of America Stadium when his former team takes on the Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card game.
The Panthers announced on Wednesday that Newton will be hitting the « Keep Pounding » drum on Saturday to rally the crowd for the postseason game.

The Panthers are playing their first home playoff game in a decade. The last time they hosted a team in the postseason was when they played the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC Championship game in 2015. Newton featured in the game for the Panthers, helping them reach Super Bowl 50.
Panthers CB Jaycee Horn reflects on Cam Newton returning to Panthers’ game
In his four years since retirement, Cam Newton has not been on the best terms with the Panthers. However, Panthers Pro Bowl cornerback Jaycee Horn is excited by the announcement.
« It’ll be electric, » Horn said on Wednesday of Newton potentially hitting the ceremonial drum. « That’ll be something everybody will want to see. It’ll mean a lot to this organization, a lot to this city. »
The former NFL MVP was released by the Panthers in 2020 after his injury troubles. However, Newton returned to the franchise in 2021 after an injury to Sam Darnold.
He was released by the team at the end of the season. Despite his troubles with the team, Newton remains the most decorated quarterback in franchise history as the only Panthers signal caller to win the MVP title.
